Russia warns of the greatest risk of nuclear conflict in recent decades
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov warned Wednesday that the risk of a nuclear conflict in the world is currently the greatest in several decades, alluding to tensions with the West over Russia's military campaign in Ukraine. Ryabkov said that the risk of nuclear conflict "is the greatest we have had in recent decades," although Russia maintains "the world must be free and secure from the nuclear threat."
The Russian diplomat said Russia is now "de facto, in open conflict with the US". For this reason, Russia cannot behave "as before" and the direct consequence is the suspension of the last nuclear disarmament treaty between Russia and the US.
